Leave it to the Duchess of Cambridge to steal the show with lace again! Royal newlyweds Prince William and Kate Middleton made a red carpet appearance at the London premiere of Speilberg’s ‘War Horse’ over the weekend. Given Kate’s penchant for fine lace embroidery, it will be interesting to see if this iconic duchess will be as much as a trendsetter for award season as she was for this year’s weddings.
Kate donned an Alice Temperley original. The well-fitted bodice complemented Kate’s slim frame and seemed to suggest a much more refreshed look in comparison to the other dresses Kate has been wearing. Temperley designs are a red carpet usual and embody as much British flare as it does ornate embellishments. In comparison to the wedding gown worn last April, this is a much edgier and darker frock for Kate. The flesh-tone gown layered with black lace leaves much to the imagination! The question is…will lace be making a Golden Globe debut??[divider]

Christina Aguilera allowed lace to accentuate her curves at last year’s Golden Globes where the Burlesque star wore a Zuhair Murad gown. Penelope Cruz, Anna Kendrick, and Heidi Klum are just a few of the many stars to have sported lace gowns at the globes. A dangerous material to pull off, it can be reminiscent of Old Hollywood glam yet be stifling for stars looking to stay young and fresh. Guess we’ll have to wait what this year’s Golden Globes rolls out!
