Meron rin siyang sariling negosyo, ang What A Girl Wants.
Trying new things is in!
She’s not on T.V nor is she in movies, but the girl certainly has a following! Krystle Gail Uy, or Kryz to those who know her best, started her blog, Thirstythought, for fun back in 2009. There, she posts photos of herself in super cute outfits and dishes out daily doses of fashion advice. Now she gets over 20,000 web visitors per week like it’s no big deal, and she runs her own boutique chain called What A Girl Wants. Oh, did I mention she’s only 22?
When asked what’s the most exciting thing about the Filipino fashion industry right now, Kryz of Cebu replies in a mix of Bisaya and English: “Ka lisod ba sad ana na question! Wala’y sayun sayun? Haha.” (That’s a tough question! How about an easier one?).
After a pause, she says that the trend is all about experimental fashion. She credits this to the ever-expanding reach of social media. Kryz gushes, “[Fashion] blogging in the P.H. is growing na gyud!”. With so many fellow Philippine fashionistas coming to the “interwebz,” readers see what they like and aren’t afraid to mix and match. It’s no wonder Kryz couldn’t pick just one main trend. Trying new things is in!
Here are a few excerpts from Kryz’s blog ThirstyThought:
“Who’s to say you can’t wear a men’s cotton tee cut up at the sides with a sheer pleated skirt and patent sandals? If I want to try and wear something as uncommon as this, why shouldn’t I give it a go?”
“No-fail ensemble for a day-night adventure, try this: tank top + shorts + blazer + heels.”
“Pick out colors from a print you want to wear and use that hue to accessorize. What I usually like doing is picking the faintest hue of the bunch (sometimes another shade of that faint hue even) just so you don’t look too matchy-matchy.”
