GLAAD’s national spokesperson, Wilson Cruz takes a stance on the Red Carpet

Hollywood shone with support for the LGBT community with the start studded 25th Annual GLAAD Media Awards, an occasion calling for none other than the glamorous Beverly Hilton Hotel. The momentous occasion brought together some of Hollywood’s biggest names to advocate LGBT rights. Celebrity guests and performers included Jennifer Lopez, Laverne Cox, and Wilson Cruz, to name a few.

The fashion on the red carpet was daring, and RedCarpetTips caught up with GLAAD’s official national spokesperson, Wilson Cruz, who was dressed to the nines in a beautiful red velvet blazer and black pants combo. The handsome actor took advantage of a trend in fashion that all ladies and gents can appreciate, the fitted suit! When asked about the work GLAAD has done for the LGBT community, Cruz says, “…we want to make sure at GLAAD that LGBT people are represented in film and in television and on the news, because we are apart of the human fabric and so our stories are as valid and as important as everyone else’s.” The former My so-called Life actor inspired youth to use their voices by getting involved and volunteering for such a great cause.

In regards to the many other stars who attended the award ceremony, the caliente puerto rican filled us in on what the gorgeous star of HBO’s hit series Orange is the New Black, Laverne Cox, is currently doing for GLAAD’s mission. While acknowledging Cox’s work for the transgender community, Cruz states, ” [we] are really educating not only the larger population about trans people and how their lives are affected but also the LGB community and how we should be more understanding.”
