Bridesmaids Star Wendi McLendon-Covey Comically Reveals Her Beauty and Fashion Secrets at GBK Lounge

Wendi McLendon-Covey, star of the hit comedy Bridesmaids, joined designer Charlie Lapson to speak fashion and tips at the 2013 GBK Oscars Lounge. She covered all her essentials, head to toe, literally.

To keep her luscious blonde locks shining and voluminous, McLendon-Covey uses Moroccan Oil. She instructs to use a small amount before blow drying your hair. This product “tends to take all the dryness out and just give it a nice shine.” But not too much, “you don’t want to look unwashed” she jokingly says.

In the make-up department, to embellish her bold, stunning eyes, she uses Demi-wispies false lashes. After glaring into the camera to show off her eyes, the funny lady insists “demi-wispies look good on everybody.” And although she normally uses Carmex lip balm, here she opted for an off-pink shade of lipstick, from Rite-Aid. Chic and affordable!

Keeping up with her simple and inexpensive style, the Rule of Engagement actress confesses her top is from Zara. “Zara has great basics,” adds McLendon-Covey, “you’re never going to go wrong if you go into Zara.” Yet, her pants are J. Brand‘s waxed-jeans. To complete the look, all you need is “a good pair of boots.”

What are some of her other beauty must-haves? Well, candles! Not just any candles, but Milena’s that turn into lotion once melted so they leave you “buttery and smelling like blueberry muffins!” And “of, course the Skinnygirl Margarita” she slyly adds. And for the “dry or really dry” California weather, she recommends Avocado oil. All of these sound fabulous!

Singer Laura Michelle Chats About Her Red Carpet Look at the 24th Annual GLAAD Awards

Singer Laura Michelle was enjoying her first ever GLAAD Media Awards. While inside, Michelle took some time to share her get-ready tips and broke down her look.

The Youtube sensation, thanks to her “Chuck Norris” single, was donning a chocolate Alexis Monsanto creation with a turquoise and burnt orange decorated V-shaped collar that served as the gown’s sole strap. She armed this look with a striking amber jeweled silver ring, and brown clutch by Charlie Lapson.

Aside from Michelle’s matching accessories, she also had flawless matching eye shadow, in a slightly more subtle shade of blue. And some voluminous eye lashes, courtesy of her new favorite mascara–Hypnose by Lancôme.

While this my be her first GLAAD Awards, she spilled some great tips to look red carpet ready. First, “make sure everything is in its place and nothing’s going to pop out,” said Michelle. Next, have great hair and make-up. And of course, have that hair be “severely sprayed” so that it stays in place!

A Sexy Lana Parrilla From ‘Once Upon A Time’ Enchants Us With Her Fashion at the 24th Annual GLAAD Awards

Lana Parrilla may play the Evil Queen on ABC’s Once Upon A Time, but she spiced up the 24th Annual GLAAD Awards Red Carpet looking, well, nice.

Parrilla dared to diss her Storybrooke garments and opted for a sleeker, “fun and sexy” off-white cocktail dress by Shakuhachi. “It’s a nice time to wear white,” confessed Parrilla. And she surely stood out on red carpet, by pairing the ensemble with a striking statement necklace–consisting of neon pink flowers, gold-white wing like stones, and a few fuchsia gems–that was perfectly complementary.

To complete her “enchanting” look, the gorgeous actress added a more subtle shade of pink lipstick, courtesy of Estée Lauder, along with lip gloss by Jouer for some extra shine.

“For the last fifteen years,” she has used eye cream to help her accomplish such radiant, flawless skin. Valmont, seems to be her favorite of skin care products.

Along with the secrets behind her fabulous look, Parrilla admitted it would be a great night if she were to meet Charlize Theron, her fellow Evil Queen.

From the hit make-over series, Tabatha Takes Over, host Tabatha Coffey joins us to discuss her look, beauty regiments, and the latest fashion trends at the Hollywood Style Lounge Presented by Doris Bergman.

Tabatha known for only wearing black, does it to keep her style “really, really easy.” Well, almost. While her closet is a “sea of black,” she advises “you have to make sure the blacks match, you have to make sure there’s texture, you have to make sure that it all works together.” There you have it, wearing black all the time is “so not easy,” chuckles Tabatha.

As far as fashion, whether it’s for a Red Carpet event, or a casual day, Tabatha says what matters is ”wearing something you’re comfortable in.” It’s about knowing how to own it and looking comfortable.

Tabatha delves more into fashion trends, including bright colors for Spring and upcoming Summer. Along with colors, there’s also a lot of mix-match and prints people are wearing. “I also love that juxtaposition of hard and soft in fashion at the moment,” says the hairstylist, “we’re seeing a little bit more like leather jackets put over feminine looking skirts, and draping.” It’s great seeing people play around with fashion.

Now, on to beauty tips, here are two important ones: “drink as much water” says the Bravolebrity “and moisturize, moisturize, moisturize.”

Life of Pi Oscar Winner Ang Lee, Gives an Exclusive Interview on Fashion & 3D

Ang Lee, who won another Best Director Oscar for his visual artistry in Life of Pi, spoke with celebrity designer Charlie Lapson about film and fashion’s role in film, at this year’s International 3D Society Awards.

In Lee’s Oscar winning film, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, he captures the fluidity, raw vibrancy, and exquisite detail in traditional Chinese garments. Every elaborate floral pattern, vivid color, and unique crease of fabric in turn defines the distinct gender roles and richness of the culture. In his 2005 cinematic adaptation Brokeback Mountain, the costumes set the tone for a rugged, somber love-story. But as he steers into the world of 3D (Life of Pi), we asked him how fashion–fabric, details, colors–translate and affect three-dimensional work.

“Well colors [have] dimensions,” informs the filmmaker “it’s…just the volume the 3D camera picks up. It is more detailed, more textures, it’s more sensational.”

Life of Pi, based on the eponymous novel, mainly depicts animals, and the detail behind their every kinetic action can be applied to the movement of fashion. The 3D style seizes every single component of the animals–fur, whiskers, vivid colors, muscle definition and hair–each element more captivating than the previous. And, like Lee says about the film that the meticulous imagery “enhances the experience and just about everything.” The same can be brought to dresses, fabrics, and make-up apropos fashion in 3D, which is highlighted through the colorful dresses in the film’s brief dance scene. That obsession with the dimensions of color is what brings the film to life.

Yet 3D can also function as a way to ignite an interaction with an audience. “It emotes you more into the movie,” adds Lee “there’s one more dimension…[that allows] you to manipulate, to express.” This is the medium through which a Director can induce his audience to resonate with and to mirror the emotions shown in the film.

Mr. Lee is certainly a master of his art, and he proved this through his beautiful 3D masterpiece, Life of Pi.

As Hollywood’s finest talent gathered to celebrate and honor the year’s best work in film, these glamorous stars shined on the Academy Awards red carpet.

She was the ‘it’ girl of the night! Jennifer Lawrence won Best Actress and wore a magnificent, sure-to-be-iconic pale pink gown by Dior Couture. Her subtle make-up, smokey eyes, and Chopard diamond necklace (worn backwards) added just the perfect amount of sparkle.

Also in Dior was Oscar winner Charlize Theron in a strapless, sharp V-neckline number. Charlize’s new pixie cut and Harry Winston jewelry made her look even more stunning.

Best Actress Nominees Naomi Watts and Jessica Chastain opted for shimmer and sparkle in Armani Privé dresses. Naomi chose an asymmetrically cut-out silver sequins number paired with rose lips and a purposefully messy hairstyle– a balance of sexy and radiance. While Jessica oozed sex appeal in a nude beaded gown, Harry Winston jewelry, ruby lips, and a classic side-swept hairdo.

Presenter and previous nominee Queen Latifah marveled in a white Badgley Mischka robe. The striking cut accented her face and gave her figure the right amount of oomph.

Oscar winner Sandra Bullock stunned in a sheer Elie Saab garb. Its slight see-through-ness highlighted the intricate detail of the dress, as well as Sandra’s sophisticated sensuality.

Equally elegant in sheer was Lincoln nominee Sally Field, in a vibrant red Valentino gown. The long sleeves and ruffled hem suited Sally, and proved old Hollywood can still be eye-catching.

At 75 years old, Jane Fonda showed off her fit form in a bright canary yellow Versace number. She completed her bold look with Jimmy Choo nude toned pumps and a bejeweled clutch. Simply stunning!

Metallic gowns that shimmered and sparkled were trendy that night, as were nude tones. But as we noticed, the best make up (smoky eyes, pink lips) for such a dazzling dress is: simple and subtle to emphasize a dress’s glimmer.

During Awards Show season, the women of Hollywood stun on the red carpet, but at this year’s 85th Annual Academy Awards, the men did too!

Best Actor victor, Daniel Day Lewis stood out in a midnight blue tuxedo by Domenico Vacca. The star of Lincoln looked handsome as he made history in winning his third Best Actor trophy.

Presenter and two-time nominee Jeremy Renner was classic Hollywood tough-guy in his Givenchy number. His slicked back hair, emphasized with a bit of height and his diamond knot bow tie completed his dapper look.

The hunky star of Magic Mike Channing Tatum, was there to show off his dance moves on stage with Charlize Theron. But before he strutted on stage, he was suave on the red carpet in a well tailored three piece suit. Keeping his jacket unbuttoned, Channing proved to be sexy and sophisticated.

Les Misérables star Eddie Redmayne rocked a fitting Alexander McQueen number. Eddie looked ever so sleek and slim, and topped his smooth style with velvet shoes.

Among the men that opted to sport beards, Chris Pine‘s slight stubble gave him a clean and scruffy winning look. His double breasted, six button Ermenegildo Zegna tux and perfect bow tie gave completed his dashing appearance.

For men, the best way to stay sharp, and stand out, is to have one eye-catching accessory. A bright pocket square, a three-piece tux, a uniquely knotted bow-tie, or some facial hair. Whichever they choose, it works!

Before music’s biggest night, CBS had issued a dress code to avoid any controversial outfits–wardrobe malfunctions, too much skin, too much cleavage. With that warning in mind, the ladies managed to spice up the red carpet at this years Grammy Awards, while following the rules.

Following her Superbowl halftime debut, Destiny’s Child alum Kelly Rowland was still smoking hot in a black Georges Chakra dress. The sharp sheer cutouts both accented and complemented Rowland’s fine physique. She polished off her look with some bangs and emerald Lorraine Schwartz jewels.

Multi-Grammy Award winner Anita Baker was pure classic elegance personified. The legendary singer wore a flattering black dress and Charlie Lapson jewelry. Her drop earrings, bracelets and ring were handcrafted white gold with rich purple blue Tanzanite and diamonds. Simply stunning!

Also in black, was one of the night’s winners, Carrie Underwood. The country songstress donned a Roberto Cavalli embroidered gown paired with 31 million dollars worth of diamonds in a Johnathon Arndt necklace.

Another country superstar, Taylor Swift, opted to channel her inner Grecian goddess in an off-white J. Mendel number. Swift added Jimmy Choo shoes, Lorraine Schwartz earrings, and an Ofira ring and bracelet set to her toga-esque robe.

One of the night’s most risqué and vibrant looks was Rihanna‘s. The singer wore a custom made crimson Azzedine Alaia piece that was slightly see-through. Rihanna‘s winning style was accessorized with Neil Lane jewelry and Manolo Blahnik pumps.

Also memorable, was star of Girls Allison Williams who shined in a sequined Kaufmanfranco creation. The black diamond-encrusted gown was highlighted with Williams natural locks, drop earrings, and smokey eyes.

Navy, black and white along with side-parted hairstyles were the fashion trends at this year’s SAG Awards Red Carpet. These are some of the A-list women’s winning looks.

Star of Les Misérables, Amanda Seyfried hit a homerun in a navy Zac Posen creation. Aside from sporting one of the night’s hottest colors, this dress hugged her body in all the write places. Sexy and radiant!

Equally gorgeous in midnight blue was Jennifer Lawrence. Despite suffering from pneumonia, Lawrence managed to stun in a Dior Haute Couture, side-part hairdo, dark rouge lips, and Chopard necklace.

A very pregnant Busy Philipps, showed off her baby bump in a grey-blue Gabriela Cadena number. The Cougar Town actress glammed her glowing style with a Judith Leiber clutch and a bold turquoise jewelry from Irene Neuwrith.

The last of the ladies in blue was the always statuesque Nicole Kidman. She donned a sheer and sequined couture number by Vivienne Westwood. And paired with straight hair, the actress was edgy chic.

Kidman’s fellow Australia actress, and friend, Naomi Watts also looked stunning in an embroidered Marchesa piece. While her gown was intricate, she kept her make-up simple with a hint of coral on her lips. She finished the look with matching pearl Christian Louboutin heels, diamond earrings, and a box clutch.

Star of Downton Abbey, Michelle Dockery, turned heads (for all the right reasons) with this risqué vintage noir Chado Ralph Rucci. She looked sensual and elegant, Lady Mary Crawley would approve.

Tina Fey was retro Hollywood glamour! The Best Actress in a Comedy winner wore a black Oscar de la Renta gown, accented with a metallic belt and a complementary clutch.

Fey’s 30 Rock co-star, Jane Krakowski, added color to the night in a peach hued ensemble, paired with a burn orange clutch, cream pumps, and an orange-gold bracelet.

And last but not least, Jessica Chastain spiced up the carpet with her fiery red Alexander McQueen. The ensemble was topped with her signature ginger locks.
