Legendary Oscar winner Rita Moreno (West Side Story), joined celebrity designer Charlie Lapson on the red carpet of the 25th Annual GLAAD Media Awards. The fiery octogenarian told Lapson he was channeling her fellow Story co-star, George Chakiris, in a purple shirt, black suit and tie. She herself had shades of purple in her metallic lipstick and chandelier earrings.
“And I’m dressed for the lesbian ladies tonight,” quipped Moreno about her outfit. She was sporting an edgy black leather jacket complete with golden spikes on the shoulders, paired with matching pants and a sheer chemise-like top. The star, who just completed a few season of TV Land’s Happily Divorced, joked calling her top “underwear.” She even thanked fashion icon Madonna “who gave us permission to wear underwear in public.”
To end on a positive note, Moreno expressed the importance of GLAAD “because it means that our society, like it or not–kicking and screaming with hair pulling–is opening up. And that’s good.”
