2013 Emmys Fashion Preview– Drama Series Nominees

As the Primetime Emmy Awards are a few days away, we eagerly await to see what all the nominees will bring. But before television’s biggest night, here are a few stellar looks that this year’s dramatic series nominees have nailed. And perhaps giving us insight on what they may wear.

Emilia Clarke, nominated for her role as Daenerys Targaryen on Game of Thornes, ditched her character’s robes for a young and modern look. Take her strapless crimson Ralph Lauren, as an example of bold and edgy. Equally playful, was her white and violet printed Chanel dress. Scandal‘s leading lady Kerry Washington, has been a red carpet sensation all year long. One of her best looks was this nude tone sheer piece by Miu Miu. Michelle Dockery from Downton Abbey, has fashionably stunned at every award show appearance. We can most likely expect a classic yet chic look from Dockery, like her form fitting gold and cream Alexander Vauthier Couture or navy Louis Vitton.

True Blood alumna, Carrie Preston, who just nabbed an Emmy for her guest work on The Good Wife, has been wearing flattering dresses that complement both her body figure and hair color. Recently, she sported a metallic blue/gold Issa, and a teal cocktail dress for another ceremony. (A good tip to take: if you’re a red head, like Carrie, a blue or green toned ensemble will go best.) Carrie’s Wife co-star, Christine Baranski also took to cocktail dresses for a few red carpets. Short dresses, like her long-sleeved golden number, are a perfect way to show off legs! Another age defying actress, Jane Fonda, nominated for The Newsroom, put girls half her age to shame in this electric yellow Versace.

Mad Men may be set in the 1960’s, but the cast always has a modern red carpet look (with a slight retro-feel, of course). Best Actress nominee Elisabeth Moss sparkled in a black sequined cocktail dress. While the voluptuous Christina Hendricks, nominated for her supporting role as Joan, dresses to hug her body. The gowns she wears–like this beige Christian Siriano and the black and ivory printed Jenny Packham–accentuate her best attributes. The show’s leading hunk Jon Hamm, always impresses with the perfect sized bowtie, whether in Giorgio Armani or Dolce & Gabbana.

Speaking of men, these dramatic actors Bobby Cannavale (Boardwalk Empire), Bryan Cranston, and Homeland‘s Damian Lewis all know how to look handsome on the red carpet. Last year’s Best Actor victor, Lewis, donned a sleek Burberry suit, and triple Emmy winner for Breaking Bad, Cranston was just as dashing in John Varvatos. Cannavale opted for the dapper all-black look.
