The awards show where actors honor fellow actors–also known as the SAG awards–was a buffet of memorable moments at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.

The event was a mixed bowl of sentimentality, laughter and surprises.

Industry pioneers such as Betty White, Mary Tyler Moore, and Christopher Plummer received important honors.

The young cast of Modern Family as well as the funny women from the hit movie Bridesmaids provided comedic lift to a tough crowd of entertainment insiders.

There was that surprise win by Jean Dujardin best actor for the silent film The Artist, besting A-list royalties such as George Clooney, Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt.
